How to make random groups
- Paste your names, one per line.
- Choose Number of groups (e.g. 4 tables) or People per group (e.g. pairs = 2).
- Press Make groups. Press it again for a fresh shuffle, or Copy to paste the groups into a document or chat.
Turn a class list into balanced random groups in one click.
The list is shuffled with a Fisher–Yates shuffle, then dealt out one name at a time like cards. Group sizes never differ by more than one: 23 students in 4 groups gives 6, 6, 6 and 5. With People per group, the number of groups is rounded so nobody is left alone — 13 students in pairs gives five pairs and one group of three.
The extra people are spread across groups, so sizes differ by at most one. You never get a group of one when you asked for pairs or larger.
Yes. Choose People per group and set it to 2. With an odd number of students, one group becomes a trio.
No practical limit — hundreds of names work instantly, and nothing is uploaded.
