How to use the days since calculator

  1. Enter the date something started: a habit, a job, a move, a recovery.
  2. Read the total days, then the same span in weeks, months, and hours.
  3. The page keeps your date, so you can check your streak again tomorrow.

Worked example

Since January 1, 2000 is a long run: from 2000-01-01 to 2026-10-16 there are 26 years (9,497 days, including 7 leap days) plus 288 days, for 9,785 days. The calculator does this with calendar dates, so leap years and daylight saving are handled for you. The months figure counts whole calendar months first, then the leftover days.

Frequently asked questions

How do I count days since a date by hand?

Add the days left in the start month, every full month in between, and the days into the current month. Remember February has 29 days in leap years.

Is the start date counted?

No. The day after the start date is day 1, so yesterday shows 1 day. This matches how streaks and "days since" signs usually work.

Can I count the time between two past dates?

Yes, use the date difference calculator for any two dates.
