How to use the board game timer

  1. Choose the number of players and minutes each, then add names and colors.
  2. Press Start. Only the active player's clock runs.
  3. When you finish your turn, tap your tile or press Space to pass to the next player.

Prefer a fixed limit per turn instead of a total bank? Switch to Per-turn timer or use the turn timer.

Picking a time bank

A good starting point is the box's play time divided by the number of players, minus a little for setup. Heavy strategy games may need 20–30 minutes per player; quick family games 5–10. When a bank hits zero the tile turns red and keeps counting, so you can decide on a house rule — a penalty, or forced quick turns.

Frequently asked questions

How does a chess clock work for board games?

Each player has a total amount of time. Your clock runs only during your turn and pauses when you pass, so slow thinkers use up their own time, not everyone's.

Can I skip a player or change the order?

Yes. Tap any player's tile to make it their turn. The timer commits the time used so far to the previous player first.

Does it work on a phone in the middle of the table?

Yes. The player tiles are large tap targets, and the fullscreen button removes everything else from the screen.
