How to use the 50/10 timer

  1. Press Start and work on one task for 50 minutes.
  2. At the chime, take the 10-minute break that starts automatically — move, drink water, rest your eyes.
  3. After three rounds, take a 30-minute long break.

Adjust the lengths under Settings; they are remembered on this device.

When 50 minutes beats 25

Writing, coding, design, and studying dense material often need 10–15 minutes just to warm up. A 50-minute block gives you more time in flow and fewer restarts, while the 10-minute break still keeps fatigue in check. Three rounds is roughly a half day of deep work.

If you find yourself drifting before the bell, drop back to the classic 25 minute Pomodoro.

Frequently asked questions

Is 50 minutes too long for a Pomodoro?

Not for focused, complex work. Many people prefer 50/10 because it means fewer interruptions to their flow. If attention slips, shorten the focus time in Settings.

What is the 50/10 rule?

Work for 50 minutes, then take a 10-minute break away from the task. It gives you the same 5:1 ratio as the classic Pomodoro, with longer blocks.

Can I change the long break interval?

Yes. Open Settings and set “Long break every” to any number of rounds from 1 to 12.
